Bye-bye, TSE!

IATA changed the letter code of the city

The Civil Aviation Committee of the Ministry of Industry and Infrastructure Development of the Republic said that starting today, June 8th, Nursultan Nazarbayev International Airport will be displayed under a new code – NQZ in all international systems.

"Nursultan Nazarbayev International Airport has been assigned a new NQZ code, which will be displayed in all reservation systems, boarding passes, baggage tags, and information displays," the committee said.

The TSE code has been assigned to our airport since Soviet times by the old name of the city - Tselinograd. After taking office of the new president Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev, the airport was named after the first president of the country, Nursultan Nazarbayev. Since 2014, the aviation authorities of our country have been trying to change the three-letter code of the capital's airport; as a result, the International Air Transport Association (IATA) decided to change the airport code from TSE to NQZ.
